‘Walk, Wheel, Run’ promotes unity, wellness

The Brunei-US Association (BUSA) hosted the ‘Walk, Wheel, Run’ event at the recreational park along Jalan Menteri Besar bringing together volunteers and participants with disabilities in a celebration of community, friendship and healthy living.

The inclusive initiative paired alumni of the United States (US) government exchange programmes with persons with disabilities, fostering connections through physical activity.

The participants engaged in a leisurely walk and run around the park, some with mobility assistance, embracing the event’s message of unity and well-being.

The participants included members from Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, the Paraplegic and Physically Disabled Association (PAPDA), the Down Syndrome Association (ABLE), Orang National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP), Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB) and Special Olympics Brunei Darussalam.

“We believe that physical activity should be accessible to everyone. ‘Walk, Wheel, Run’ is a reflection of our commitment to inclusivity and social connection,” said BUSA President Paul Mahler. “By walking side by side, we hope to break barriers, strengthen friendships, and encourage an active lifestyle for all.”
