Visitors hang upside down as ride malfunctions in China

ANN/THE STRAITS TIMES – A theme park ride in Chongqing, China malfunctioned, leaving at least 18 riders stranded upside down in mid-air.

Local media reported the riders were stuck for two to three minutes before park employees managed to restart the ride. No injuries were reported, although some riders felt dizzy.

Videos of the incident circulated online, showing the riders hanging upside down on the popular ride, which typically has an hour-long wait time.

According to reports, the ride suddenly stopped at its highest point, where it swings 360 degrees.

Theme park employees stated the ride was full when it stalled, attributing the stoppage to perfect balance rather than a malfunction.
