Virtual K-pop idol group Plave to go global this year

(ANN/KOREA HERALD) – Plave, the virtual K-pop boy group created by Vlast, is setting its sights on international expansion this year.

Lee Sung-gu, CEO of Vlast, announced the group’s global ambitions during a press conference in Seoul on Monday. He stated, “Our goal for Plave this year is to go global. We are currently in negotiations with an overseas agency for the group’s debut in foreign music markets. We are on the verge of finalising the deal.”

Vlast, a virtual intellectual property startup, manages Plave and is pioneering a new genre called virtual entertainment with the group. Lee expressed confidence in Plave’s potential for global appeal, citing their popularity on local TV music shows and their growing fanbase.

To support their global endeavors, Vlast secured investments from K-pop giants Hybe and YG Plus. Lee mentioned, “We are seeking their expertise in promoting K-pop groups abroad to accelerate our global expansion.”

In Korea, Plave has captured the hearts of many listeners, achieving milestones such as topping local TV music shows and holding successful fan concerts.

Lee attributes Plave’s success to the human-like characteristics of its members. Each virtual character has a real-life counterpart, with members actively involved in music production and choreography.

“Our priority is to enhance the technology to better depict the charms of our members through the virtual characters,” Lee emphasised.

As Vlast continues to grow, Lee highlighted the company’s focus on augmenting their artistic capabilities and repertoire. They plan to introduce innovative visual content this year, showcasing unique experiences that only virtual idols can offer.

“The virtual idol market holds immense potential, but technological development is crucial for its growth,” Lee concluded.

Vlast is committed to leading the way in the virtual entertainment industry, leveraging technology to create captivating experiences for fans worldwide.
