The Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) announced on Monday evening that their investigation has determined that a viral video involving three national football players was manipulated to create a misleading narrative, described by the association as a “plot twist.”
In a press release, FABD urged the public to refrain from sharing or recirculating the video, which initially gained attention on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The association emphasised that the spread of such content not only damages the reputation of the players involved but also undermines the integrity of Brunei’s national team and the country as a whole.
“The dissemination of misleading information impacts not only the individuals but the entire football community and Brunei’s standing in the sport,” FABD stated.
Reaffirming its dedication to maintaining high standards of professionalism, the association reiterated its commitment to upholding integrity and trust within Brunei’s football community.
Earlier on Monday, the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports (MCYS) said that the relevant authorities will conduct a full investigation into the incident.
