The Weights and Measures (SDT) Unit of the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division at the Ministry of Finance and Economy issued a reminder notice during spot checks at markets in Brunei-Muara and Tutong districts recently.

The warning was issued for failure to comply with Weights and Measures (Verification) Regulations, 1994 for using a weighing machine with expired registration. The trader was required to present themselves to SDT Unit’s office within seven working days.

The checks at Tamu Kianggeh, Pasar Gadong and Pasar Tani Satenaga Kampong Selayun covered 58 units.

Meanwhile, a joint operation by SDT Unit; Employees Trust Fund (TAP); and Labour Department uncovered several violations in Kuala Belait and Seria recently.

A warning was issued to a company for not displaying net weight on packaged food products and having misleading weight on packaging, while an employee was found not registered to TAP and an offence violating Chapter 10 of the Employment Order 2009.
