    Village elects new leader

    The only candidate for Zone 1, RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan, Mukim Berakas ‘B’, Haji Muhammad Suhaimi bin Haji Ibrahim, received 57 votes at the election the new village head yesterday.

    Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer Pengiran Muhammad Ameer Mubaarak bin Pengiran Haji Hashim attended the event at the Lambak Kanan Primary School, Jalan 49.

    Legislative Council member and Kampong Belimbing Village Head Yang Berhormat Haji Daud bin Jihan and Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MoHA) Special Duties Officer Mohammad Hazeeq bin Arsad were also present. The event began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat led by RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan Mosque Officer Haji Azmir bin Haji Amit, followed by the counting of the votes and the announcement.

    Forty-five-year-old Haji Muhammad Suhaimi is a resident of RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan Zone 1 since 1993 and currently helps his spouse run their family business. He was nominated by Haji A Bakar bin Kassim and supported by Osman/Othman bin Haji Matassan and Noratina binti Tinggal.

    The voting concluded with the election in favour of Haji Muhammad Suhaimi with only six votes against and one invalid vote.

    Yesterday’s result will be forwarded to the Board of Appointment, Discipline and Procedures for the Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the MoHA. – Lyna Mohamad
