Vietnam’s trade surplus reaches USD8.01B in five months

HANOI (XINHUA) – Vietnam saw a trade surplus of USD8.01 billion in the first five months of this year, according to the country’s General Statistics Office yesterday.

The office reported that during the cited period, the total import-export turnover of goods hit USD305.53 billion, up 22.6 per cent year-on-year, with exports increasing by 15.2 per cent and imports surging by 18.2 per cent compared to the same period last year.

From January to May, a total of seven exporting items, including electronics, computers, components, phones, garment and textile, footwear and timber, reported revenues of over USD5 billion, accounting for 65.3 per cent of the total export value.
