HANOI (XINHUA) – The number of active digital wallets in Vietnam will surge by 40 per cent to 50 million by the end of this year, local media VnExpress reported Tuesday, citing financial data provider FiinGroup.
The number of e-wallets in Vietnam has grown at a fast clip in recent years, according to FiinGroup.
As of 2023, Vietnam had 36 million e-wallets.
Since 2018, the number and value of transactions done through e-wallets have jumped by 80.4 per cent and 83.5 per cent a year. According to the German statistics database Statista, the number of e-wallets in Vietnam is behind only Indonesia and the Philippines in Southeast Asia.
