HANOI (XINHUA) – Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports in September reached USD917 million, a single-month record, local media reported, citing the General Department of Customs yesterday.
The exports in September increased nearly nine per cent compared to August and 37 per cent compared to the same period last year, said the report.
Vietnam earned USD5.64 billion from exporting fruits and vegetables in the first nine months of 2024, up 34 per cent year on year and exceeding the previous record of the whole of 2023, according to the customs figures.
The Import-Export Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said the records had been made largely thanks to the contribution of durian exports to the Chinese market.
It is predicted that Vietnamese durian exports to all markets, mainly to China, will reach USD3.5 billion this year. Other promising fruits that could bring high values of exports are banana, jackfruit, mango, watermelon, lemon and passion fruit.
