Veterans, youth football tournament kick off

A veteran football tournament to vie for Dirgahayu Cup kicked off yesterday at Berakas Sports Complex.

The tournament was officiated by its chairman Matali bin Haji Tahir.

Some 24 teams, including 11 from the neighbouring Sabah and Sarawak, are competing in the three-day tournament held across the Berakas Sports Complex and Sungai Asam Sports Complex.

The winning team will walk away with a cash prize of BND7,000 while the first runners up will grab BND2,000 and BND1,000 for second runners-up.

The inaugural tournament is organised by Kampong Sungai Kedayan Youth Union Football Club (KPPKSK) and Litmus Management Services Company.

KPPKSK is also concurrently organising the Dirgahayu Cup Junior Championship for players under 12 years which sees 14 teams competing and kicks off today. – Azlan Othman
