Brunei Darussalam’s veteran athletes won five medals at the 2024 Malaysia Masters International Open Championship at the MSN Stadium Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur over the weekend.
Representing the Brunei Masters Athletics Association, Alinawati binti Haji Aliakbar clinched two gold medals in javelin and discuss throw events.
Pengiran Azizul Akbar bin Pengiran Haji Badaruddin won two silver medals in discuss throw and shotput events, while Ampuan Mohd Khifli grabbed bronze in the discuss throw.
Brunei was represented by six participants, led by Brunei Masters Athletics Association Secretary Hajah Mariah binti Haji Metussin as team manager.
Eighteen participants from Asian and other countries took part.
The next tournament is the joint Singapore-Johor Masters Tournament which will be held on November 15-16 at the Johor Bahru Stadium. – Azlan Othman
