Vanuatu win can break stigma: FABD president

Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) Haji Feisal bin Haji Eusoff Patail hopes that the national team’s win over Vanuatu during the recent FIFA Series 2024 match can help break stigma on their ability to attain success in both the regional and international stage.

This was highlighted during an appreciation ceremony for the FABD Series 2024 organised by the FABD with support from HiTune Brunei at iLotus Restaurant yesterday.

The president added that perception that the team may not enjoy football matches in Brunei Darussalam was proved wrong.

However, he warned not to take the victory for granted and must work tirelessly to achieve their dreams.

He explained that the historic win can spur the team’s journey towards greater success if they continue to work to see excellence in both the regional and international level.

The president also stressed the importance of possessing discipline and commitment as the catalyst of building the team’s effectiveness.

Efforts in building an effective team will not be achieved if players do not pay attention or fully focus on training let alone a match.

The appreciation ceremony, the president added, is hoped to lift the spirits of the players to continue raise their efforts in making a good name for the country.

Touching on their performance, the president expressed his delight at seeing their encouraging displays showing that they are capable of going further in the future.

Explaining on FABD’s official visit to the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) which was at the official invitation of the SAFF President, he acknowledged the success of exploring several valuable opportunities in establishing cooperation, improving the competencies of officials, organisational governance, and improving the experience of local football players in all levels.

Present at the appreciation ceremony were FABD Deputy President Haji Mahrub bin Haji Murni; Managing Director of HiTune Group of Companies; and FABD Acting General Secretary Haji Matali bin Haji Md Tahir. – Fadhil Yunus
