UTB welcomes new student representative council president

Ummi Salmah binti Haji Mohd Firdaus, who obtained 89 per cent votes, was announced the president-elect of Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Student Representative Council (MPPUTB) for 2022/2023.

The three nominated candidates – Mohammad Umair Wafri @Mohammad Iliya bin Haji Noor Ahsffian, Muhammad Khairi bin Haji Jefri and Ummi Salmah – made presentations.

Each candidate was given seven minutes to present their speech entitled, ‘The impact of COVID-19 on students’, followed by five minutes of a question-and-answer session. Audience at the venue and online via Live Instagram cast their votes via QR code shared at the event.

Newly elected president Ummi Salmah said, “Insya’Allah, I will do my best to lead, learn and continue working together with everyone. I hope this year will be a good one for us at the university.”

The election began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat.

The event was joined by UTB principal officers, MPPUTB members, as well as staff and students.

UTB Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman was the guest of honour.

The MPPUTB and the Student Affairs Office co-hosted the presidential election for the 2022/2023 session at the Multi-purpose Hall, UTB.
