The opening ceremony of the sixth Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) Sports Fiesta was held at the Multipurpose Hall, UTB.
Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Services) Dr Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar was the guest of honour.
The ceremony began with speeches by Chairperson of the sixth UTB Sports Fiesta Muhammad Aiman @ Mahadi bin Aidee Suherman, and the guest of honour.
Dr Mohamad Saiful officiated the launching of the Sports Fiesta, proceeded by the flag hoisting of the four teams – Xlr8 (Blue), Crtiv (Grey), Pro-Xtiv (Purple) and Xcel (Yellow).
The reading of the sports pledge was led by President of Futsal Club, session 2022/2023 Abdul Hakamil Adli bin Haji Abdul Halim.
The Sports Fiesta is held from September 27 to October 29, comprising 11 sports namely futsal, netball, touch rugby, frisbee, badminton, volleyball, swimming, dodgeball, basketball, pool, bowling, e-sports, and track and field.
The venues include UTB Multipurpose Hall; Sports Complex Universiti Brunei Darussalam; iBowl Utama Bowling Centre, Batu Besurat; Master Alim Pool and Cafe, Kiulap; Brunei Basketball Association; OneForAllFutsal.bn; and Padang and Belapan Air Force, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
UTB Sports Fiesta is a biennial sports event organised by Executive Committees (EXCO) Sports, one of the Executive Committees under the UTB Student Representative Council.
With the vision of bringing people together and exposing new students to what university life has to offer, this year’s slogan is ‘Presenting Opportunity Where Everyone Rises (POWER)’, aiming to encourage students and staff to work together to achieve a common goal while growing in camaraderie and creating memorable experiences.
