Used clothing for the underprivileged

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through the Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre (HTRC) in collaboration with the Women Business Council (WBC) organised an ‘Infaq Preloved Baju Raya 2024’ programme at its Sinaut Campus recently.

The programme was carried out in three stages – a donation drive from March 18 to 20 to collect used clothing and accessories; the handover of the clothes to the programme from March 23 to 24; and WBC offering the donated items to the underprivileged.

The programme was aimed at providing used clothing in good condition to the disadvantaged, to ensure they have a festive Hari Raya season as well as to promote environmental consciousness.

The reuse of clothing is good for sustainability as some textiles take a long time to decompose and may release greenhouse gas, thus contributing to global warming.
