US senior official for APEC completes Brunei tour

United States Senior Official for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ambassador Matt Murray concluded his two-day visit to the Sultanate ahead of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the US and Brunei Darussalam.

Murray met with government officials and business leaders, including Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN) and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), to discuss trade and development and ways to deepen the economic ties between the two countries.

In a meeting with Famous Textile Chief Executive Officer Stephen So, Murray reviewed exports within APEC and economic diversification strategy.

He also met with former APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Chair Nik Hafimi Abdul Haadi and Brunei ABAC member Hafriz Musa to discuss economic policies and how Brunei can enhance its cooperation with APEC partners to further promote economic growth in the region. – Lyna Mohamad
