US ambassador explores rich history of Chinese temple

United States (US) Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Caryn McClelland visited the Teng Yun Temple (To’Kong China Brunei Darussalam) yesterday.

The ambassador, who toured the temple and gained an in-depth knowledge on the history of the oldest temple in the Sultanate, said; “We thoroughly enjoy the temple’s rich history, its cultural significance and the beauty of it. It is truly an honour to be here. As we approach the Lunar New Year, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the millions of Asian-Americans in the US who will celebrate this special holiday.”

Teng Yun Temple Chairman Lee Eng Ching in his welcoming remarks said; “This historical temple has been standing in this country for more than 100 years and we also ensure the sturdiness of the structure of this temple remains intact through renovations – with the latest one completed in 2022.”
