The digital revolution is never waning. As it continues to reshape the way we live and work, a nation’s progress, or specifically, a Smart Nation’s growth is intricately linked to the strength and capabilities of its digital workforce.
In recognising the pivotal role that technology plays as modern drivers of economic growth and innovation, the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) established the Digital Upskilling Training Programme to bolster local information and communication technology (ICT) manpower, giving the opportunity for individuals to upskill and reskill.
“In pursuant to Brunei Darussalam’s efforts of becoming a Smart Nation, AITI aims to continuously help business and individuals to adapt and embrace opportunities to the growing and evolving digital sector.”
Available from July 2023 to March 2026, the Digital Upskilling Training Programme is designed to enhance the expertise of the local workforce by offering recognised specialised and intermediate certified ICT technical trainings. Through this programme, trainees have been equipped with industry-ready competencies aligned with the current and future demands of the industry in reference to the Brunei ICT Industry Competency Framework (BIICF).
Furthermore, the programme is dedicated to equipping the local workforce with globally recognised professional industry ICT certification to enhance the employability prospects of our jobseekers in field of technology, locally as well as internationally.
In addition to ensuring globally recognised information technology (IT) courses are accessible for individuals in Brunei Darussalam, the programme offers subsidies of up to 80 per cent for local workforce who have successfully obtained the industry-recognised certification after completing the selected course.
In the first year of the programme, training sessions for the ITIL 4 Foundation and CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst courses were conducted for 27 participants, the majority of which are sponsored employees from the private sector. A 52 per cent of the trainees passed their certification examinations and were awarded with subsidies upon obtaining their industry-recognised certifications.
The opportunity to attend these training sessions was highly valued by both companies and trainees, as it aims to upskill and reskill their local workforce, equipping them with the necessary skills to progress and adapt to the digital era.
Positive feedback received from past participants: “The ITIL 4 Foundation course helps me better understand and will facilitate improvement in my role as an incident manager by applying current ITIL v4 practices.”
“The CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst course covers a wide range of security concepts, making it an excellent resource for cybersecurity analyst to discuss and expand their knowledge of the processes, tools, and operations they use in their day-to-day jobs.”
Elevate your team’s IT skills with upcoming courses: Take the next step to stay ahead of the competition in today’s fast-paced digital world by joining ICT courses designed to upskill your workforce and enhance their technical knowledge in key areas of the digital industry.
