Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) welcomed 428 new students this week.
UNISSA Acting Rector Dr Arman bin Haji Asmad in a speech highlighted that secondary school and university learning environments are different. The students should be instilled the university’s core value – taqwa – which is in line with UNISSA’s mission to produce pious and credible leaders contributing to the development of the ummah through academic excellence, research and community service.
He advised the students to have high integrity as well as take advantage of opportunities during their tenure in the university to improve their academic ability such as attending talaqqi class, workshops, extracurricular activities and competitions.
The five-day orientation week is aimed at introducing the new students to life as a UNISSA student.
There are also briefings for academic process, study programmes, compulsory courses, learning facilities and co-curricular activities.
The students will also participate in religious, motivational, mental health, leadership and community activities. – Azlan Othman
