University to develop human capital in Islamic finance

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) recently received a visit from the PT Fin Centerindo Satu (FIN SATU) of Indonesia and signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation and collaboration towards human capital development in Islamic finance at its campus in Gadong.

UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal signed the MoU on behalf of the university, while FIN SATU was represented by its commissioner Harianto Solichin.

During the visit, the two sides discussed setting up industry training at the Syariah Tower (Menara Syariah) in Indonesia, designed as a national and international Syariah-based economic and educational ecosystem centre.

The visit also saw the two sides sharing views in providing exposure to UNISSA alumni through internship programmes and sharing expertise through training and academic programmes according to the agreed-upon specialised fields.

FIN SATU is also set to organise lectures featuring experts from UNISSA and Faculty of Islamic Economics and Finance (FEKIm) students as well as to set up a collaboration network between the two sides in the field of Islamic finance. UNISSA’s Deputy Rector (Research, International and Services) Dr Arman bin Haji Asmad; Director of International and Public Relations Centre Dr Haji Hambali bin Haji Awang Jalil; Dean of the FEKIm Dr Muhammad Zaki bin Haji Zaini; and Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer, Private Equity, PT Yule Sekuritas of Indonesia The Fei Meng were also present. – Azlan Othman
