Five Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre students from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) left for Universiti Teknologi MARA Sarawak in Malaysia for a 10-week industrial training recently.

Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre Deputy Director Dr Zeiad Amjad Abdulrazzak Aghwan was at the Brunei International Airport to send the Bachelor of Halal Science undergraduates off.

The training is aimed at exposing the students to the halal industry in Malaysia and to conduct research related to the field as well as gain experience in learning abroad. UNISSA in a statement said halal industry is gaining global importance not only for Muslims but also the non-Muslim community.

This spurred the university to play a role in disseminating halal concept through collaboration and training that align with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s wish to make the Sultanate a global halal hub.
