University organises wildlife research workshop

Universiti Brunei Darussalam’s (UBD) Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER), in collaboration with University of Oxford and Northern Arizona University, conducted a connecting landscapes toolkit workshop yesterday.

The workshop is one of the initiatives spearheaded by IBER to advance research and conservation of wildlife.

It introduced participants to advance tools for quantifying wildlife connectivity. Professor David MacDonald, Dr Dawn Burnham, Dr Andrew J Hearn from University of Oxford, Dr Patrick Jantz from Northern Arizona University and Dr Salwa Khalid from UBD facilitated the workshop.

The workshop was attended by UBD staff and students, officers from the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Department at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and representatives from non-governmental organisations – Biodiversity and Natural History Society and Borneo Futures.
