Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) is now ranked 221st on the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), said the university in a statement.

The ranking was conducted by the South Korean Institute for Policy and Strategy on National Competitiveness and supported by the Hanseatic League of Universities; the Institute for Industrial Policy Studies; the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and Tailor Institute, Franklin University Switzerland.

Around 1,072 higher learning institutions took part in this year’s WURI.

Thirteen categories in innovation, feasibility and impact were evaluated by the report, said UNISSA, adding that the university was ranked 14th in the symbol (promotion) category while also ranking 26th in infrastructure and technology.

UNISSA is the only local university that took spots in the Global Top 300 Innovative Universities and is ranked 51st among higher learning institutions in Southeast Asia, said the university.
