    University earns global recognition in engineering

    Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) secured a position in the 601-800 band for Engineering in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2025.

    This underscores UTB’s growing influence in global higher education and its role in advancing Brunei’s development aspirations.

    UTB Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar said, “Our commendable international outlook reflects the university’s commitment to building meaningful connections and collaborations that benefit both Brunei and the global community.

    “The recognition is a testament to the dedication of our staff, students, and industry partners, and it’s an achievement we can all be proud of.”

    “Guided by the university’s strategic vision, this achievement highlights our relentless commitment to developing a world-class engineering education at UTB,” said UTB Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Dr Tan Soon Jiann.

    The Faculty of Engineering, offering specialised programmes in civil, electrical and electronic, mechanical, and chemical and energy engineering, has been pivotal in achieving the recognition. The programmes are designed to equip students the theoretical knowledge with practical applications, preparing graduates to address contemporary global challenges including sustainable energy and technological advancement.

    The university’s performance in the THE rankings, which evaluate institutions across teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income, particularly highlighted its strong international presence.

    The university’s collaborative partnerships with industry leaders have strengthened its position in bridging academic excellence with practical innovation.

    The achievement aligns with Brunei Vision 2035, emphasising the development of skilled professionals and sustainable economic growth.
