UNISSA Rector attends interfaith dialogue in Doha

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal recently attended the 14th Doha Conference for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) conducted from May 24-25 in Doha, Qatar.

The international conference was organised by the Doha Interfaith Dialogue International Centre and Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The 14th DICID themed ‘Religion and Hate Speech: Holy Scripture and Practice,’ was officiated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikh.

He stressed on the importance of serious discussions from all religious leaders, Islamic scholars and thinkers attending the conference while at the same time come up with realistic action plans and initiatives to counter all hate speeches in religion, philosophy, and law.

He also explained the danger of hate speech in the society and called for life to be led freely, safely and with dignity, regardless of religion, gender or skin colour.

He stressed that all religions are filled with blessings and urged for peace and love to all human beings, preserving life and expel all types of violence.

The ceremony continued with an award presentation to three recipients for their interfaith messages of peace and understandings. Among the recipients was Dr Mohamed Khalifa Hassan from Egypt.
