UNISSA hosts lecture, book awards ceremony

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through its Faculty of Usuluddin and Student Body Usuluddin (BadrU), held a general lecture and Sanad Hadith degree ceremony recently.

The lectures and degrees were delivered by President of Al-Furqan Association of Yemen Dr Mubarak Saeed Kaseor, an invited guest during UNISSA’s 12th Hafl Al-Takharruj on August 29.

The lecture ‘Relationship between Hadith and Fiqh and its Importance to Students’ emphasised the relationship between the two fields in the determination of the Islamic law based on the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

One hundred students from the Faculty of Usuluddin also received a Sanad Hadith degree from the President of al-Furqan Association of Yemen.

Dean of the Faculty of Usuluddin Dr Hajah Sri Rahayu @ Hajah Nur Janah binti Haji Dollah and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Usuluddin Dr Shayuthy bin Abdul Manas, as well as academic staff of the Faculty of Usuluddin and Syariah, alongside Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Usuluddin as the moderator of the lecture session Dr Ahmad Baha bin Mokhtar were also present.

Meanwhile, five awards were presented during the UNISSA 2022 Book Awards ceremony at the university recently.

Assistant Rector (Research, International and Services) of UNISSA Dr Arman bin Haji Asmad presented the book prizes.

This year, two new categories – the High Impact Journal Article Award for the most citations, and the Highest Number of Publications Award in a High Impact Journal – were introduced in addition to the three categories: the Malay Language Book Award, the English Language Book Award, and the Arabic Language Book Award.

The Director of the Research and Publication Centre Salwani binti Sabtu stated that the addition of the two categories is seen as one of UNISSA Press’ efforts to appreciate the contribution of the university’s academics in both improving the position of the university in the field of research and publication, and to encouraging its academics to further enrich their research and publish their research results in high impact journals.

The 2022 edition of the UNISSA Book Awards saw 50 books being evaluated and judged – 25 books published in 2020 and 25 books published in 2021.

The winner of the Arabic Language Book Award was Al-Kulliyyaat wa al-Qawaídmal-Quráaniyyah: Dirasah Ta’siliyyah tahliyyah li al-Kulliyyaat wa al-Qawaaíd al-Fiqhiyyah (General Qur’anic Texts and Rules: An analytical and Fundamental study of the Juristic Rules) by Dr Maiga Mohamed Hamadikinane and Hajah Nurol Halimatulwara’ binti Haji Mumin.

The Qur’an on Art Architecture and Built Environment by Associate Professor Dr Spahic Omer was chosen as the winner of the English Language Book Award.

Meanwhile, for the Malay Language Book Award, the winner was Kitab Hadis Arba’īn Fādānī: Karya Ulama Nusantara di Tanah Suci by Dr Jannatul Husna Ali Nuar and Associate Professor Dr Gamal Abdul Nasir Zakaria.

The article, The Effect of Halal Foods Awareness on Purchase Decision with Religiosity as a Moderating Variable: A Study among University Students in Brunei Darussalam, by Associate Professor Dr Hajah Rose binti Abdullah, Professor Dr Muslichah Machali and Dr Ahmad Lutfi bin Haji Abdul Razak was named the winner of the High Impact Journal Article.
