Two academics from the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) participated in the University President Forum 2023 organised by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
UNISSA was represented by Assistant Rector (Academic) Associate Professor Dr Siti Sara binti Haji Ahmad and Director of the Research and Publication Centre Dr Hajah Sri Rahayu @ Hajah Nur Janah binti Haji Dollah.
The three-day programme from August 8 to 10 was officiated by Malaysian Higher Education Minister Dato Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Highlighting the theme ‘Innovation Solutions: Expanding Horizon’, the forum aimed at sharing best practices and analysing current strategies in transforming the global higher education perspective towards internationalisation agendas.
This included efforts and initiatives led by higher learning institutions to support innovative solutions as a response to current global trends and challenges where the presence of university leaders, higher management, and senior representatives of institutions play a crucial role in planning and developing the future direction of higher education.
Among the highlight was a keynote speech from Ambassador of Romania to Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia Nineta Barbulescu.
It proceeded with a panel forum, collaboration exchange session, networking hi-tea, cooperation workshop for global impact, international matching grant programme, and a president’s roundtable.
Personnel from various institutions in Brunei, Indonesia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand and the Philippines participated in the forum. The delegates also visited UTM campus and saw various products developed by the university in the field of marine, science and biotechnology. – Rokiah Mahmud
