UNISSA celebrates first local Arabic language professor’s achievements

Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) celebrated the milestone achievement of appointing its first local professor in Arabic Language, Professor Dr Siti Sara binti Haji Ahmad, who has made significant contributions both nationally and internationally in the field of Arabic language.

The event, held last Wednesday at the UNISSA Auditorium Hall, was graced by UNISSA’s Rector, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, as the guest of honour. The ceremony was also attended by assistant rectors, senior officers, academics from various local and international institutions, and students who gathered to commemorate this notable achievement.

Dean of the Faculty of Arabic Language, Dr Hajah Rafidah binti Haji Abdullah, extended her congratulations to Professor Dr Siti Sara, highlighting her pivotal role in advancing the Arabic language. She noted that this appointment exemplifies UNISSA’s commitment to nurturing local language experts capable of competing on a global scale and contributing meaningfully to the development of Arabic. Dr Hajah Rafidah acknowledged the dedication and perseverance required for such an accomplishment, praising Professor Dr Siti Sara for demonstrating that hard work and commitment are essential for success.

The event featured an academic presentation by Professor Dr Siti Sara entitled “Developing Collaborative Technology Model (CTM) to Enhance Arabic Communication Skills Among Arabic Schools’ Students in Brunei Darussalam.” Additionally, an exhibition showcased her vast achievements, including scientific research, academic publications, and her dedication to mentoring generations of students at UNISSA and beyond.

This celebration marks an important recognition of the accomplishments of local academics and is anticipated to inspire others to strive for excellence in their fields, contributing to the growth and strength of higher education institutions in Brunei.
