A uniformed personnel was sentenced to a year’s jailed time with one stroke of the cane after he pleaded guilty to pimping women out for prostitution.
Abdul Qayyum bin Mohamad, 33, was a police constable at the time of the offences, according to Prosecutor Ruzana Adnan and Deputy Public Prosecutor Pengiran Nor’Azmeena binti Pengiran Haji Mohiddin who revealed details of the case to the Magistrate’s Court recently.
The defendant was arrested at his post in Electric Control Post 2, Batu Bersurat.
The arrest was made in a follow up on investigations of a prostitution case involving two Indonesian women, working as domestic helpers and fled their employers to work as prostitutes.
Police raided a motel in Gadong where they found one woman in a room with a male client and the other woman in the lobby.
Further investigations confirmed that the two women were hired out as prostitutes by the defendant. – Fadley Faisal
