The Manpower Industry Steering Committee Working Group for ICT Sector (MISC-WG ICT) held a retreat recently to assess current and past programmes, address manpower issues faced by the ICT sector and identify future programmes, according to a statement from the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry (AITI).
Fourteen members from the government, industry, institutes of higher learning and training providers participated.
Also present was the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) Secretariat.
The group has identified key programmes and projects to be developed and implemented in the next few years, said AITI as the group’s secretariat.
Since the formation of the MISC-WG ICT in August 2020, the members have worked hand-in-hand with stakeholders to understand the type and number of jobs demanded by industry sectors and identify and develop critical occupations and comptencies, aligned with industry requirements.
The working group aims to see an increase in talented local graduates pursuing their careers and bridge the gap on manpower supply and demand.
