The Planning Authority ordered an unauthorised storage facility in Kampong Sungai Buloh, Mukim Mentiri to cease activities, and its building extensions torn down as the construction of the extensions was carried out without planning permission.
“The storage activities were carried out on residential land unsuitable for storage purposes.
The illegal extension is built within building lines and encroaching towards state land,” the authority said in a statement. “Upon routine monitoring and inspection, the landowner complied with the Planning Authority’s order by discontinuing the activities, demolishing the illegal extensions and cleaning up the area.”
The Planning Authority also reminded the public to comply with the planning laws, in particular Section 23 which states that no person shall carry out the development, subdivision or consolidation of any land or carry out any work in a conservation area without permission from the Planning Authority.
The failure to comply is an offence liable on conviction to a fine of up to BND200,000.
Continuing the offence may lead to a further fine of up to BND10,000 for each day the offence continues following conviction.
