Unauthorised storage activities in residential area ordered to cease operations

Two storage activities in Kampong Rimba, Mukim Gadong were ordered to cease its activities and demolish its building extensions by the Planning Authority for violating Section 23 (2), Town and Country Planning Order, 2015 (TCPO) for conducting its activities and constructing extensions without permission.

The storage activities were carried out on two residential land unsuitable for storage. The illegal extension is built within building lines and used as a storage of building materials that is unorganised.

Upon routine monitoring and inspection in April 2022, the landowner complied with the Planning Authority’s order by discontinuing the activities, demolish the illegal extensions and clean up the area.

The public is reminded to comply with the planning laws, in particular Section 23 TCPO which provides that no person shall carry out the development, subdivision or consolidation of any land or carry out any work in a conservation area without Planning Authority permission.

Failure to comply is an offence liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding BND200,000 and in the case of continuing, a further fine not exceeding BND10,000 for every day during which the offence continues after conviction.
