Uji Rashid football team emerged as the champion of a 7-a-side football tournament at Dato Mohd Yassin Primary School’s field in Kampong Mentiri on Sunday.
Ungah came second, followed by Sembilan Lumut and Kambura.
Organised by the Kampong Batu Marang Village Consultative Council, the tournament saw 10 teams from Kampong Batu Marang competing, including Sampariding, Sumpit-Sumpit, Pila-Pila, Kambing-Kambing, Gumbir and Badukang.
The organising committee’s secretary Mohammad Fazrul Ezwan bin A Jamudin said the tournament was held in conjunction with this year’s Youth Day and served to strengthen ties among villagers.
Village Head of STKRJ Kampong Sungai Buloh and Acting Penghulu of Mukim Mentiri Hamiddo bin A Mohd Daud presented the prizes. – Lyna Mohamad
