The Chancellor’s Trophy for the year 2024/2025 co-organised by Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB) opened its curtains with a netball competition at the Multipurpose Hall of the Maraburong Prison in the Tutong District recently.
The competition involved the participation of six institutions namely UBD; UNISSA; UTB; KUPUSB; Politeknik Brunei and the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).
UBD was crowned champions having maintained an unbeaten record with maximum points to their name.
Politeknik Brunei finished second in the tournament while UNISSA secured third place after defeating IBTE in a thrilling playoff match. The tournament also feted individuals with special awards in recognition for excellence including Most Valuable Player; Best Shooter; Best Defender and Best Mid-Court.
UNISSA Deputy Registrar (Academic) as a representative of the Registrar Nurathirah Salihah binti Haji Md Salleh presented prizes to the winners.
UNISSA Dean of Students Nurhafizatulhikmah binti Haji Serbini was also present. The Chancellor Trophy was first launched by the Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education on November 9 last year.
It is a multi-sport competition among local higher education institutions held biennially.
This meet was established in 2021 and each sport or activity will be organised by the Student Representative Council from four higher education institutions.
