Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held its second TEDx event under the theme “Futuring Together” on September 13, 2024, highlighting Brunei’s Role in advancing sustainable development, with a full house of attendees eager to explore innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
The event showcased seven inspiring speakers, including UBD staff, students, alumni, and a guest speaker, all addressing critical issues aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The topics ranged from the limitations of artificial intelligence in language learning to the significance of digital literacy and sustainable volunteerism in creating resilient communities.
One standout talk discussed how technology-driven partnerships are driving sustainable innovations and how Brunei’s business networks are embracing the circular economy to reduce waste and enhance profitability. The event also touched on the importance of inclusion for children with special needs and mental health challenges, highlighting UBD’s commitment to creating accessible educational environments.
Assistant Vice-Chancellor (University Life and Governance) of UBD, Hajah Maudena Haji Abd Hamid, was the guest of honour at the event, which built on the success of last year’s inaugural TEDx gathering.
TEDxUniversiti Brunei Darussalam continues to position UBD as a leader in promoting sustainable development and fostering intellectual growth within the community.
