Netball team from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) emerged as champion on Sunday after defeating Politeknik Brunei (PB) to win the Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Rector Trophy marking the 13th Mahrajan Hafl Al-Takharruj of UNISSA.
Meanwhile, third place went to Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology (CCCT).
Several teams from local higher institutions took part in the tournament including UBD, UNISSA, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB), Politeknik Brunei (PB), Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE)
and CCCT.
Assistant Rector (Student Affairs and Alumni) at UNISSA Dr Hajah Lily Suzanna binti Haji Shamsu presented the prizes.
Prizes were also presented to Dayangku Nur Aqilah binti Pengiran Samsul Bahri from PB as the Player of the Tournament, Nur Amal Batrisyia @ Syasya binti Haji Mohamad from UBD (Best Attacker), Nur Nasrina binti Izzudin from UNISSA (Best Shooter) and Nur Darina binti Safri from CCCT (Best Defender.)
The tournament was held to encourage youth to be involved in sports as well as to forge closer ties and instil goodwill among students of higher learning institutions. – Azlan Othman
