The Magistrate’s Court handed sentences yesterday to a local pair for pimping and prostitution.

Badie’uzzaman Mahat, 34, received two years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to the charge of pimping out 34-year-old Bibiyana Hasan.

Bibiyana was ordered to settle a BND2,000 fine or serve eight months’ jail in default of payment after pleading guilty to providing sexual services for BND60.

Prosecutor Khalillah binti Hussin informed Magistrate Harnita Zelda Skinner that a public tip-off prompted the Anti-Vice and Gambling Suppression Unit of the Criminal Investigation

Department at the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) to raid a motel room in Kampong Pasai Satu, Jalan Mulaut, Mukim Sengkurong ‘A’ at 4.42pm on January 25.

The police found Bibiyana with a man along with evidence of prostitution.

Investigation led to Bibiyana’s detention and information leading to Badie’uzzaman’s arrest as he was said to be her pimp.

The court heard that the pair had been operating since July, 2021.

Badie’uzzaman admitted that he would receive between BND10 and BND30 from Bibiyana’s sexual services which he used to pay for room rental, food and drugs.

Bibiyana also admitted that she would pay for room rental and spend the proceeds on basic provisions such as food as well as giving Badie’uzzaman’s share.
