Two supermarkets pay the price for not displaying price tags

    Azlan Othman

The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) at the Ministry of Finance and Economy fined two supermarkets BND500 each for offences under the Chapter 142 of the Price Control Act and the regulations under it, during a routine inspection recently.

JPES found that the supermarkets failed to display price tags on some items which include vegetables, fruit, powdered milk formula and canned evaporated milk.

Last month, 16 warning notices were issued to 16 business premises for selling above the maximum price set for cooking oil products and failing to comply with the rules on displaying price tags.

Retailers are reminded to comply with Chapter 142 of the Price Control Act and the regulations under it, to develop a resilient domestic business ecosystem.

JPES said consumers can direct complaints or feedback on Chapter 142 of th Price Control Act through the PenggunaBijak mobile application; Darussalam Line 123; and e-mail  aduanpengguna@jpes.gov.bn.
