Two products flagged by ministry as non-halal

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), through the Syariah Affairs Department has received a complaint regarding the halal status of Tim Tam biscuits produced by Arnott’s Biscuit Limited, Australia.

Following an inspection, the department found that the biscuits contain non-halal ingredients or are processed using the same equipment as non-halal products.

In light of this, the department instructed business owners selling Arnott’s Biscuit Limited products to immediately separate them.

Meanwhile, MoRA through the Syariah Affairs Department also issued a notice regarding the halal status of MyProtein’s Layered Treat Without The Cheat – Matcha Flavour.

Following a complaint lodged with the Halal Food Control Division, an inspection revealed that the product lacks halal certification from a recognised halal certification body. As a result, the department has deemed its halal status questionable.

Businesses selling MyProtein products manufactured by TheHutGroup, THG Nutrition Limited United Kingdom, have been instructed to segregate these products and ensure they are displayed in areas not accessible to the public.

The ministry also reminded business owners to be more vigilant when importing and selling food products, ensuring that halal-certified items are not mixed with non-halal products.

This measure is to safeguard the Muslim community from inadvertently consuming non-halal products.

The ministry expressed its appreciation to the public for their cooperation and urged those who come across questionable products to report them. – Fadley Faisal
