Two Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers in West Bank

RAMALLAH (XINHUA) – Two Palestinians were killed yesterday during clashes with the Israeli soldiers at a village south of the northern West Bank city of Jenin, the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a press statement.

Izedin Hamamreh, 24, and Amjad Khleileyeh, 23, were killed during clashes with the Israeli soldiers at the entrance to the village of Jaba’a, according to the statement.

The statement didn’t give more details about the incident. However, Palestinian security sources said Israeli soldiers opened fire at a vehicle and killed the two young men in the car.

Meanwhile, an Israeli military spokesman said in a statement that Palestinian suspects opened fire from a car at Israeli soldiers, adding that the soldiers shot back and killed the two militants in the car.

The Israeli soldiers had found M16 machine guns that the two militants had taken with them, the spokesman said, adding that no injuries were reported among the soldiers.

Yesterday, medical sources said that 19-year-old Palestinian Yazan Al-Ja’bari succumbed to wounds he sustained from Israeli soldiers several days ago in the town of Kafr Dan, west of Jenin.
