Two M’sian navy helicopters collide during training

(ANN/THE STAR) – Two naval helicopters crashed during training at the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) stadium in Lumut, Perak on Tuesday, according to officials.

A video capturing the incident depicted one helicopter’s rotor clipping the other aircraft before both descended to the ground.

At present, there is no information available regarding any casualties.

The two helicopters involved were identified as a Fennec M502-6 and a HOM M503-3.

The HOM helicopter crashed onto the stadium stairs, while the Fennec helicopter landed in the sports complex’s swimming pool.

Both aircraft had departed from Sitiawan field at 9:03 am and were engaged in training for a flyover planned for the 90th Naval Day celebration.

It is understood that the Fennec helicopter was operated by a three-person crew, while the HOM helicopter carried seven crew members.
