Two men were charged in the Magistrate’s Court Wednesday with stealing electric cables from a house in Kampong Batang Mitus, Tutong.
Thai national Rungrot Rotphayung, 29, and Bruneian Jamziean bin Akob, 43, are accused of committing the theft at around 2pm on February 13.
The charge, framed under Section 380 of the Penal Code read with Section 34, carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment and a fine.
During proceedings before Magistrate Muhammad Qamarul Affyian bin Abdul Rahman, the prosecution, led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Firdaus Mohammad, applied for the defendants to be remanded until Saturday to facilitate further investigations.
No plea was recorded, and the case was adjourned. – Fadley Faisal
