Magistrate Syaffina binti Shahif yesterday handed 28-month jail sentences to locals Johari bin Haji Jaya and Nurul Shahrizam bin Jiwani, both aged 35, for their involvement in multiple offences stemming from an incident at the basement parking of a supermarket in Mentiri on April 26.
Prosecutor Ahmad Firdaus bin Mohammad elaborated in court that the duo had stolen a speaker set and a preamplifier from a vehicle.
Johari also damaged the vehicle’s lock in the course of theft and stole a toolbox from the same vehicle.
Both defendants stole a vehicle from a workshop at Tasek Lama sometime on April 27 and 28.
Police were alerted when the owners realised what had happened to their properties.
