Two local males, aged 40 and 35, suspected of possessing contraband in their vehicle, were detained by detectives and police personnel on patrol of the Bangar Police Station on Tuesday.

According to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), police personnel stopped a vehicle with its driver and passenger along Jalan Labu near the junction of Kampong Tanjong Bungar, Temburong District.

A search led to the discovery of 11 plastic bags and boxes containing 118 bottles and 48 cans of alcohol in the rear passenger seat and the bonnet of the vehicle.

The vehicle and the suspects were brought to the Bangar Police Station. They were handed over to the Religious Enforcement Division of Temburong District for further investigation.

The RBPF will increase efforts to conduct patrol and random checks to ensure that the country is free from crimes, especially involving cross border.

The RBPF reminded the public to report suspicious activities to enforcement agencies.
