Two labour violations uncovered

The Labour Department during an operation targeting Kampong Sungai Besar found a foreigner working in a capacity outside of what was stated in his work permit.

The foreigner was initially employed as a server but was found to be working as a cashier and a concoctionist. The company was also found paying the worker without permission from the authorities.

These labour offences each carry a fine of up to BND1,000, and the failure to settle the fines will lead to the company being brought to court.

The agency reminded employers to look after the welfare of the workers, including paying their salaries on time and refrain from misusing the foreign workers license. – Fadley Faisal
