The Labour Department recently conducted an operation in Kampong Anggerek Desa, where they discovered two violations of the Employment Order, 2009.

The inspection found the employers hiring foreign workers without the Labour Commissioner’s approval.

The law enforcers also found a violation of the conditions of the foreign worker licences by not providing employment to workers under their guarantee. If found guilty, the employer will face a compound fine of up to BND1,000. The failure to settle the fine will result in the case being brought to court.

The Labour Department also reminded employers to monitor the welfare of their employees in accordance with the Employment Order, 2009 and to refrain from abusing the foreign worker’s licence. – Fadley Faisal
