Two Indonesian nationals were recently produced in court for overstaying.
I Gusti Bagus Ukir Wijaya, a 39-year-old male, was sentenced to six months in prison and three strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to violating Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17 for overstaying beyond the validity of his immigration pass.
Meanwhile, Baiq Sri Pujiani, a 27-year-old female, also pleaded guilty to the same offence under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17. She was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. The cases were the result of enforcement efforts carried out by Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) officers under Operasi Kabat JIPK.
