Politeknik Brunei (PB) held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony yesterday in conjunction with the 7th PB Convocation Ceremony and Doa Kesyukuran to mark its 10th year of establishment at Jalan Ong Sum Ping.
Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad was the guest of honour.
The hybrid event featured guests attending physically while following COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) as well as online attendance via Zoom. Parents and guardians of the graduates also followed the event streamed live on YouTube.
Some 579 graduates – 255 male and 324 female – participated in the religious ceremony.
The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by the guest of honour, and followed by a recitation of Al-Quran verses by the participants.
The Doa Khatam was recited by Level 5 Diploma in Business Studies (Human Resource Management) graduate Awangku Abdul Muim bin Pengiran Ismail, before continuing to Dikir Marhaban.
The event ended with the recitation of Doa Selamat and Doa Kesyukuran by PB Head of General Studies Division Haji Mohammad Ja’afar bin Haji Johari. The Khatam Al-Quran and Doa Kesyukuran ceremony was organised by PB’s Islamic Education Unit.
The 7th PB Convocation Ceremony will be held from March 10 and 12 at the International Convention Centre (ICC). Some 629 graduates will receive their Level 5 Diploma certificates at the convocation.
