Two foreign women arrested for overstaying

Law enforcers of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) arrested two Indonesian women for overstaying in the country, during an operation.

Fifty-three-year-old Endang Psw Sumitro was sentenced to four months’ jail and a BND800 fine in lieu of whipping. The woman failed to pay the amount and was sentenced to five months in prison. Meanwhile, Ida Suriyanti was sentenced to seven months’ jail and a BND800 fine in lieu of whipping.

The woman also failed to pay the fine and was sentenced to eight months in jail.

The department urged the public to provide information relating to immigration offences by contacting the INRD at 8734888 or 8753888 for Bandar Seri Begawan and 8984111 for Belait District. – Azlan Othman
