The Labour Department’s Law Enforcement Division recently conducted Operation Siaga Bersepadu 2024 at a commercial building in Gadong, where they discovered two violations of the Employment Order, 2009.
The operation, in collaboration with the Law Enforcement Division of the Immigration and National Registration Department, found failure to provide written employment contracts under Section 10 and failure to supply first aid equipment at the premises under Section 82.
If found guilty, the employers can face fines up to BND1,000 per violation. Non-payment will result in court proceedings.
The Labour Department reminded employers to continuously monitor employee welfare in accordance with the Employment Order, 2009, including providing written employment contracts for employees to sign and ensuring first aid equipment is available at the premises. – Fadley Faisal
